Ron Friedmann’s Background and Experience

I am a lawyer by training and have over three decades of legal market experience. I help lawyers and legal business professionals solve their toughest strategy, practice, and operational challenges.

Legal Market Experience includes Chief Knowledge + Information Officer at LAC Group; partner at Fireman & Company (now an Epiq company); executive at alternative legal service provider Integreon; CIO at Mintz; practice support head at then Wilmer Cutler (now WilmerHale); consultant to law firms, law departments, and legal vendors; and marketing professional at two legal market software companies (legal expert system software and online digital signing). Business Consulting Experience. Prior to entering the legal market, I worked as a strategy consultant at Bain & Company and as an economic and financial analyst for Data Resources, Inc. (a McGraw-Hill company).

Professional Engagement: Fellow of and former three-term Trustee of the College of Law Practice Management; co-organizer of the Strategic Knowledge & Innovation Legal Leaders’ Summit, the leading annual private legal KM and innovation event (hosted by Simpson Thacher); judge for the COLPM InnovAction award. I am a member of NYC Large Law Firm KM Group and I founded and organize the DC Large Law Firm KM Group (on hiatus during the epidemic.)  In the past, I co-founded and organized one of the first North American groups of legal professionals focused on how technology could improve law practice, the Law Practice Technology Roundtable, which met regularly in the 1990s. I regularly publish articles and blog posts about and speak on how to improve law practice efficiency and improve law firm business operations.

Education. JD, New York University School of Law in 1986 and BA in Economics, Oberlin College in 1979. Honors at both.
